Rate: £670/day inside IR35

Location: Hybrid – London office, 2-3 days a week
Sector: Public Duration: 6 Month Contract (extension possible)

Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Enterprise Information & Data Architect (enterprise level, not solution) with extensive experience shaping enterprise data strategy, governance, and target-state architectures. Based within the architecture function but working alongside data teams, this role is responsible for setting the vision and orchestrating the organisation’s data architecture and associated processes, providing technical architecture direction to deliver the target state and ensure enterprise data is structured, integrated, and fit for purpose to enable decision-making, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Document and maintain the enterprise data architecture for both current and target state, in the form of conceptual, logical and physical models
• Define and maintain enterprise data domains (eg property, asset, lease, customer, finance) and associated canonical models, semantic layers and ontologies
• Align business, digital and data strategies to support the business and develop data architecture principles
• Work with the Enterprise Architect to build and maintain Enterprise Architecture artefacts including data flows, value chains, taxonomy, data dictionary, and implementation roadmaps
• Work with technical and business teams to document business process, develop requirements and design operational and analytical data models
• Develop and maintain the enterprise data/information architecture roadmap
• Work with the Data Governance team on capabilities such as Master Data Management, Data Quality and Data Observability
• Promote data lineage, traceability, and auditability across key data assets
• Support and guide master data solutions, including system integration and onboarding of new systems, ensuring alignment between enterprise data models and solution architectures
• Maintain the organisation’s repository of logical metadata mapped to applications
• Support Solution, Infrastructure, Networks and Security Architects to deliver digital initiatives
• Act as a thought leader for enterprise information architecture, mentoring data architects, modellers, and analysts
• Sit on the Architecture and Technical Design Authority, providing approvals on architectural decisions across the digital estate
• Support and guide data literacy campaigns in content, audience and delivery

Required Skills & Experience:

• Senior enterprise-level data architecture experience, able to act as a thought leader in this space
• Direct experience with ontologies, knowledge graphs, semantic layers, metadata management, and data governance
• Strong background in Azure-based data environments and enterprise-wide transformation programmes
• Experience working in complex, asset-heavy or real estate environments
• Experience of finance transformations
• Comfortable challenging and influencing senior stakeholders at CxO level
• Expertise in designing end-to-end data architectures (conceptual, logical, physical) across complex ecosystems
• Strong experience in canonical models, ontologies, and semantic layers
• Working knowledge of modern data platforms and cloud ecosystems (Azure and Databricks) and AI platforms
• Understanding of data governance principles and practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills
• Experience managing and delivering data-related projects

Desirable Skills:

• TOGAF, DAMA-DMBOK or similar architectural framework
• Experience supporting machine learning, advanced analytics, and digital product initiatives
• Working knowledge of SQL and/or Python
• Agile/Hybrid delivery environment experience
• EA tooling knowledge (eg Aris, LeanIX)
• Experience with digital twins and geospatial data
