About the role
For 60+ years British Heart Foundation (BHF) has been focused on transforming the nation’s heart and circulatory health. Growing income and support for our cause means we need access to the right systems, tools, and brilliant data insight. This is where our Enterprise Foundations (EF) Programme comes in to provide the best possible technology systems to support our work.
Comprising of four workstreams; Retail, Finance, Customer and Data Architecture and Reporting, this programme will deliver cutting-edge technologies, better systems, and data to provide the foundations for growing our income so we can support the lifesaving breakthroughs millions of people desperately need.
We’re looking for Portfolio Support Officer’s (PSO) to provide vital support to our EF Programme of work and work closely with our PMO and wider business stakeholders. You’ll coordinate the management of the programme, supporting in the planning, resourcing and prioritising projects, as well as overseeing other portfolio activities.
We are recruiting for two Project Support Officers to provide vital supporting the following EF Programme workstreams.
Customer workstream
Data, Architecture and Reporting workstream
You’ll serve as a point of contact for delivery teams and BHF-wide stakeholders and be responsible for ensuring that PMO standards and procedures are applied, maintained, and compliant throughout the portfolios.
This is valued role, assisting a variety of projects, offering you an in-depth understanding of Technology initiatives that have significant impact on the organisation.
Working arrangements
Please note these are 12 month fixed term contracts.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and approximately 1-2 days per week in our London Office, dependent on projects and meetings.
At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.
About you
With PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent programme management training you’ll have a track record of working in project and/or programme support and will have an understanding of Agile approaches and concepts.
You’ll have an understanding of portfolio management approaches and concepts (3PO) and experience of business of process mapping. You’ll be IT literate with extensive practical experience of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Programme, PowerPoint, Visio and SharePoint as well as MS collaboration tools such as MS Teams and PPM tools.
You’ll have experience working on multiple priorities able to identify risks and support stakeholders to implement appropriate mitigation. You’ll also be able to work with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skill and experience:
A positive can-do’ attitude and flexible approach
Ability to work with staff at all levels
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, able to liaise and work with non-technical people in a clear manner
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively to people of all different technical abilities
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and activities concurrently

Interview process
