The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Information Management (IM) Manager to lead the strategic delivery, governance and continuous improvement of an enterprise-wide Information Management service within a complex, digitally enabled programme environment.
This is a senior management role, sitting between the Digital Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the Information Management Lead. You will translate strategic direction into an integrated operating model and delivery roadmap, ensuring consistent standards, effective governance, robust performance management and the adoption of best practice across programmes, business functions and the supply chain.
You will provide leadership and oversight across the central Information Management function, ensuring the team has clear priorities, the right resources and the capability to deliver a high-quality, consistent service.
The initial contract is for six months, with a requirement to work from London two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Delivery and Operating Model
Translate the Digital strategic direction into an integrated Information Management operating model, supported by a clear delivery roadmap.
Develop and manage an integrated IM programme plan, ensuring priorities, dependencies and key workstreams are understood and delivered effectively.
Drive continuous improvement in the quality, consistency and effectiveness of Information Management services across the organisation.
Ensure effective business change practices support the adoption of new processes, standards and ways of working.
Leadership and Performance Management
Set clear delivery objectives for the Information Management Lead and wider team, monitoring performance and providing direction on priorities, resources, risks and improvement actions.
Oversee organisational capability, capacity and professional standards, ensuring the IM Lead has the direction and support required to manage the central team effectively.
Provide management oversight of delivery plans, service performance and improvement initiatives.
Ensure the team delivers defined services, controls, assurance activities and improvement initiatives in line with agreed objectives.
Governance, Risk and Assurance
Manage the Digital/IT Information Management service, ensuring consistent governance, standards, controls and ways of working across programmes, functions and the supply chain.
Provide consolidated reporting on performance, risk, compliance and Information Management maturity to the Digital Senior Leadership Team.
Identify and escalate material risks, compliance concerns and decisions requiring senior leadership intervention.
Support senior governance and assurance forums, resolving cross-programme issues within delegated authority and escalating strategic matters where necessary.
Stakeholder and Supplier Management
Build and maintain effective relationships with programme and functional leaders, delivery partners and suppliers.
Drive the adoption of agreed Information Management requirements across the organisation and its supply chain.
Coordinate stakeholders to address delivery challenges, resolve competing priorities and maintain alignment with the wider Digital strategy.
Promote Information Management as a core professional discipline, increasing organisational awareness and embedding best practice.
Role and Accountability
The IM Manager will operate within a clearly defined management structure:
Digital Senior Leadership Team: Owns the mandate, strategic direction, investment decisions, executive assurance and organisational outcomes.
Information Management Manager: Translates strategy into an integrated operating plan, manages the enterprise service and portfolio, coordinates stakeholders, and oversees performance, risk and organisational capability.
Information Management Lead: Develops and implements standards, procedures, team plans and day-to-day delivery activities under the Manager’s direction.
Information Management Team: Executes the defined services, controls, assurance activities and improvement initiatives.
The role is therefore focused on strategic implementation, service management, stakeholder alignment and performance oversight, rather than solely on the development of technical standards or the management of day-to-day delivery activities.
Essential Experience and Skills
Significant experience in Information Management leadership or management within a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.
Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into operating models, integrated delivery plans and measurable outcomes.
Experience managing enterprise-wide Information Management services, governance frameworks, standards and controls.
Strong leadership and performance management skills, including setting objectives, managing priorities and overseeing team capability and capacity.
Experience producing and presenting performance, risk, compliance and maturity reporting to senior leadership teams.
Demonstrable experience supporting governance, assurance and senior decision-making forums.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence programme leaders, functional teams, delivery partners and suppliers.
Experience driving business change, organisational adoption and continuous improvement.
The ability to resolve cross-functional delivery issues, manage competing priorities and escalate strategic risks appropriately.
